Terrible Twos Are Well On Their Way

I must say I have been pretty lucky to have a fairly calm little girl for the past year 11 months and 3 weeks, but she is one week from being two and she is starting out the terrible twos with a bang. Here are a couple clues we are in for a crazy year.

We left her alone for a little while thinking she is playing in the kitchen only to find a few minutes later that not only has she pulled the whole roll of toilet paper off the roll, but she has shredded it to a million pieces a long the way. (By the way, she insisted on putting her pants back on all by herself after going to the bathroom and they are on backwards. I don't know if you can tell , but the belt is in the back.)

Clue number two. I was coloring my sister-in-law Amy's hair today and she had just gotten done saying "She is so nice to just play." When we walk over to the other room and find this; about 8 different card games scattered across the floor. So much for being "nice." I waited until Jeremy got home so he could see what HIS daughter did. We cleaned it up and then told her in a very nice voice "Kylie never ever ever get all the cards out again" She just put her finger up to her mouth and shushed us. Anytime she doesn't like what we are saying or Jeremy is sing obnoxiously in the car she shushes us.

Clue Number Three: I currently have spaghetti spilled all over my pantry floor. Kylie has learned that f she pulls a stool over to the door, opens it, climbs up and she can reach quite a few shelves from there.

Clue Number Four: She wrote on our light colored chair with a blue pen. We asked her about it and she admitted to doing it then she promptly spit on her finger and wiped at the mark. (At least she's honest)

She has a tendance to make up for some of this stuff she does by saying funny things. For example: we were in the car (I know it seems like we are always in the car, but really we are not. Just funny things happen in the car) and we drove through a playing lot that looked like one that would be at a park and Kylie says "I want to go to the park.'' I said "We can't, there isn't a park here." and she says "Oh shoot." We then drove past a lot that was for sale and we saw the price on the sign that said it was $249,000 and Kylie says "My gosh." I am not sure those are the best things for little girls to say, but I guess they have to be better then the alternative. I think we'll keep her after all.

Weekend Festivities

We had a great 4th of July weekend. We decided to escape the 108 degree weather and head up to Cedar City. We got there in time for the parade and Kylie loved it. The loud sirens made her nervous, but she got a huge kick out of the horses peeing right in front of us.

She did a really great job of getting candy. We were in a really good spot because there weren't any other kids around and I taught her to wave and yell "hi "to the people throwing candy and she would get handfuls thrown back at her. She is getting old enough that she likes stuff like this and it's fun to watch her get excited about it.

She is smashing her candy cup so you can't really tell how much she got, but along with that we got otter-pops and a couple Frisbees.

After the parade we went to Jeremy's sister and brother-in-law's house for a BBQ. The weather was so nice. We sat in the shade and it was perfect. We went up and saw Granny Annie (my grandma) for a little while. Kylie loves to go see her. She gets so excited the second we pull up to the house. On the way back Kylie fell asleep and so we dropped her off at Grandma and Grandpa Felix's house and went to a movie. We haven't been to a movie in a really long time so it was fun go. We came back had homemade ice cream, hung out for a little while longer and then headed home. We got back in time to see the St. George's fireworks. Kylie loved the "ireworks" She cried when they were over.

On Saturday Kylie's cousins Madi, Dallin, Megan and Austin all came down and went swimming with her. Our pool isn't amazing, but I think they had a good time.

We then all went down to Mesquite for Kylie's other cousin Logan's baptism.

These are all of her cousins. Poor Kurt got his fingers smashed so he was sad for the picture.

She LOVED being with all the kids. She can keep up with them pretty well and they are so good to include her.

On Sunday we fed the ducks again. Kylie was very excited to do that. The ducks cooperated with us better this time and we feed them for awhile. We were hanging out earlier that day and Kylie comes up to us and says "I want some crazy." We asked her what crazy was and she said "making funny" We still didn't really know what she meant, but it made us laugh. We were impressed she could explain to us what she was talking about. Usually she has to point to something or she shows us something to explain what she is saying, but this time she just tried to explain it.

Go Away Sun!

Last night we were driving in the car and the sun was shining directly on Kylie's face and all down the left side of her body and she was so annoyed. She started saying "Go away sun, go away." She repeated that probably 4 or 5 times and then she started rubbing her legs saying "Get off me, get off me." Everytime the road would turn a little bit or we would drive along some trees she would say "That better." Only to be annoyed 2 seconds later when the sun was back. I eventually had to hold my arm up next to her face so the sun was atleast out of her eyes. Everytime we get in the car we always mention we really need to get the windows tinted in our car. She was pretty funny and that's how we feel right now. The sun is working way too hard down here and it's only the first of July.

Kylie Is Currently Obsessed With...

This is a glimpse of a day in the life of Kylie and her parents.

Kylie is currently obsessed with:

The temperature. She is constantly telling me it's hot or it's cold. Every time we get in the car she has to blow in her car seat to cool it down before she can sit in it. Last night a little while after we put Kylie to bed she came back in our room and said "It's hot in there. It's hot in there" She will not eat anything that is remotely warm. It has to be room temperature or she blows on it until she turns blue.

Coloring. She is always asking me to color. The only problem is I am the one doing the coloring while she tells me "color Mom" She might scribble a little on the page, but for the most part she just supervised and approves the colors I use. One night Jeremy and I each colored a page while she sat and handed the crayons to us. We couldn't leave until the pages were finished.

Kylie hates to be dirty. She is constantly looking at her feet making sure they are clean and if they aren't she has to have them washed. She won't wear her shoes if they are dirty and if she spills anything on her clothes they must be changed. She says "It's dirty mom. It's dirty" She is also constantly picking in between her fingers.

She is very independent. I constantly hear. "I do it, Mom. I do it" She loves to do everything all by herself. She also says "Help me" meaning I want to help you. She says that when I do her laundry or making the bed. This is her "helping" her dad get the clothes out of the dryer. She said she wanted to do it, but ended up getting in.

She LOVES to ask questions. My day is filled with answering her questions. Her favorites to ask are "What's that?", "What are you doing?" and "What happened?" and she doesn't take "Nothing" for an answer. I must explain everything. She also gets a sly little look on her face and she will say "I be right back mom" as she has her finger up like, just a minute. She is also constantly saying "Look at me, Mom"or "Look at this"

I must say all those questions must be paying off because she is pretty smart. The other night we were running some errands and a big yellow jeep drove past us and Kylie asked "Adam's truck?" My brother has a big black jeep that he got lifted just before our last family reunion. It looked just like this jeep that passed us except for the color, but I never would have guessed she paid any attention to it. She never rode in it. She never really got close to it, but for some reason remembered it and she was able to make the connection between his and the one that drove past. We were pretty impressed!

She is constantly amazing us and growing up way faster than we thought possible.

Sold

It's official, our townhouse in Cedar is no longer ours. We finally signed the papers yesterday. It's was actually a pretty productive day. We got to Cedar about 2:00 p.m. and managed to see Jeremy's parents, Jeremy met with a guy to discuss a door frame at SUU, we dropped Kylie off at my grandma's, went and signed papers for our house, went back to my grandma's visited with her for awhile, drove out to our storage unit, took my grandma to dinner, took a birthday present to Kylie's cousin Madi and visited with my sister-in-law and brother-in-law Ang and Doug and we were back in St. George by 8:00p.m. Pretty good if you ask me. It's a relief to know that the house is finally done and we don't have to worry about it any longer.

Doing What We Do Best

All we did this week was play outside in the water. It has been the hottest so far and we may just melt before the summer is over. Thank goodness St. George knows it's hot and has plenty to do in the water.

On Wednesday our friends Shandie, Lincoln and Austin came to play. We met them at a fun splash park by the Tabernacle that also has a shallow river to play in. Kylie loved it. She woke up that morning and I told her we were going to go swimming. She immediately got her swimming suit and wanted it on and then she asked if the balloon could go swimming or if the bathroom door could go swimming. Too bad they can't enjoy the summer like we can!

I told Kylie this was a "swim-jacket"--I think she thought she was putting on a piece of heaven. Two of her most favorite things put together in one!

When the day was over this is what she looked like. Good thing this isn't a sunburn. We went to a ward party that night and this is just how red a face can get after playing at the park at 7:00 at night.

On Friday we went down to Mesquite to play with Logan, Alayna and Kurt at the rec center. Their pool is awesome. It put our pool to major shame. (well any pool with clean water in it does that) There were fun slides and tubes that shot water. I think Kylie was little bit overwhelmed at first but she got into and really liked it. I forgot my camera and at first I was really disappointed, but I am realizing that my life is being ran by taking pictures. It was nice not to have to worry about it and we could just play. Hopefully there will be a next time and I will be sure to remember the camera then!

Grand Entrance

If there is one thing I hate it's being late for church, I think it is so embarrassing to walk in and have everyone watch you as you try to find a seat. Well, yesterday we were late. As we were walking in the church doors we hear the Bishop say "We have some new members we would like to welcome, the Felix family" I thought 'oh no, this just made it 10 times worse.' So Jeremy hurries to the chapel doors, opens them and waves to everyone in the room. I just stood there I think with a smile on my face pretending this was funny or something. Now if someone would have possibly missed us they weren't going to now. The Bishop then said "Oh and there they are, everyone look back and see them" So every head in the whole chapel shifts back to look at us and everyone laugh. We have to come in and find our seats while our names are being read and they are welcoming us to the ward. I swear half the ward come up to us and said "Now we all know who you are." Maybe that's not too bad, but I would have rather get acquainted with people without full attention placed on us as we walk in late to ward conference.

By the way, Kylie did a really good job singing the Hymns as loud as she possibly could and of course to the best of my abilities. She also learned she shouldn't yell "The end" ofter the organ stops and the room is silent for the prayer!

Happy Father's Day

Dear Daddy,

Happy Father's Day! I just wanted to write you a little note and let you know how much I love you. Thank you so much for all the things you do for mom and me. You work very hard so mom can stay home and take care of me and I really appreciate that. I also love it when you play with me and spend special time with just the two of us. I know sometimes I act like I don't really like you, and lately I have been telling you to go away most of the time, but deep down inside I really do love you and I love being with you. I hope you had a really great father's day even though no one at church gave you anything, hopefully my gifts made up for it. Thanks again for all you do and all the love you show to me and to mom. I LOVE YOU!!

What's for Lunch??

I will tell you what's for lunch a Macaroni & Cheese Sandwich! Kylie decided that would be really tasty and considering how much she ate I guess it was. It took a few minutes to figure out what she wanted. I gave Kylie a few options for lunch and she kept saying she wanted a sandwich. I asked her what kind of sandwich she wanted and she said cheese. So I get out the bread and cheese and she gets really frustrated saying she didn't want the cheese, but she kept saying she wanted cheese. I couldn't figure out what she was talking about so I finally let her out of her seat and she came over and pointed to the Macaroni & Cheese leftovers in the fridge and said she wanted that. So I asked her a couple times if she wanted Mac & Cheese (I have to ask a few times because there have been many occasions where I warm something up for her and she doesn't want it) and she would say yes, then say sandwich. I shouldn't have been so dumb, but it took me a few minutes to finally get it. I still wasn't quite sure and so I warmed up and Mac & Cheese and then put it and the bread right in front of her and processed to make she sandwich making sure that was exactly what she wanted, and of course it was. Anyways, that was a long story dedicated to a dumb sandwich, but really this is how meal times go at our house most of the time.

A Common Theme

Nothing is more logical in 100 million degree weather then to go swimming with loads of sunscreen, and it certainly wasn't any different when Kylie's cousin came to play for a few days. Like I have mentioned before Kylie can not get enough of other kids. She LOVES to play with them. I made the mistake of telling her way ahead of time that they were coming and it was non-stop asking about when they were getting here from then on.

She, of course insisted on a sleepover and made sure there were plenty of room for herself. (Logan, Alayna and Kurt were lucky she didn't sleep in there all night)

The next day we tried out our pool for the first time. I think they had a pretty good time. I know Kylie couldn't get enough.
