Bring On Christmas

...Well, not the actually day! I haven't done one ounce of shopping, but we did spend most of the day putting Christmas up at our house. We don't have a ton of decoration, but it was fun to get it out. Kylie would get so excited every time I would open a box and she would see what was inside. She was very good at helping me decorate the tree. The girl had just about every ornament on the bottom three branches before I could stop her.
Kylie and Jase each have a little tree in their room. This tree was the tree my mom and Kylie brought to my hospital room and decorated for me last year. As you can see she decorated the bottom few branches very nicely. It's a work in progress still.

Jeremy spent the day putting up light. He did a very good job of making sure they were straight and perfectly lined up...just how I like it!
Jase was very content to just hang out and watch. He sits in his stroller for hours if there is somebody for him to watch do something outside.

Jeremy worked out in the dark to get them finished. We had to run a couple different times to get different clips or more lights. They looked awesome when he was finished. The only thing we were disappointed about was that they are kind of on the blue side. They are LED lights and we didn't realize they would look like that. Live and learn, I guess.

Kylie loved being outside and loved that it was actually cold enough to pull out the hat and "glubs."

After two days and a super fun trip to Tai Pan with Kylie this is what the tree ended up like. Of course the picture doesn't do it's justice, but I think it turned out pretty dang cute. Jase is a little monster and is pretty sure that anything he can get off there is edible. Oh, and if any body's wondering it's the "in" thing to have your tree explode at the top.(Note the berries spraying out the top) I love this time of year!!

Thanksgiving Day

Thanksgiving day this year was spent with the Felix side up in Cedar City. It was fun to get together with Jeremy's brothers, sister and their families. Kylie and Jase have a lot of cousins and we create quite the crowd these days. The food was delicious and the company wasn't bad either.
I have so much to be thankful for this year. I have admit I am very grateful its THIS year rather than last. I am grateful for my two healthy little kids that make me so happy everyday. I am also grateful for my husband and the hard worker that he is to provide for our family and the great example he is to our kids. I am thankful for my extended family. We are surrounded by wonderful family and friends that support us and love us and care about us. I am most thankful for our Savior and his sacrifice in my behalf. I am grateful for the plan of Salvation and that families can be together forever. Life is good and I am grateful for all my many blessings!

Kylie was so excited to hear that her (2nd) cousin Tatum was in town. We stayed with Tatum and her family while Jase was at Primary Children's. These two little girls have quite the friendship. They love to call each other on the phone and Kylie often talks about Tatum and our stay at her house. This was the first time they had seen each other since we left there. We really need to make it a point to visit them more often.

We also spent time with my grandma and Tatum's older sisters Kelly and McCall and her family. We love these girls. As weird as it is this was the first time they had ever met Jase. They had definitely heard a lot about him while we were there, but had never met him. I am so grateful for the sacrifices they made in helping us during that time! What a great day and time of year it is!!

Peeping Tom

Someday I will be able to enjoy a long, relaxing, peaceful shower by myself, but until then I guess I will just have to share it with my shower buddy.
** Oh, and for anyone who thinks I have a camera in the shower with me all the time or that I let my kids watch me shower...I DON'T. This was a rare occasion. That's why I documented it! :-)

Reminiscing

I have decided that this year I want to do everything "Christmas." Anything that has something to do with Christmas I want to participate in. Maybe I am making up for last year, maybe I am excited to have my own house to decorate, maybe I am excited because I have a daughter old enough to be excited also. Its probably a little of everything, but whatever the reason I am excited to celebrate this year.

Last night we went over to the Dixie Center to see the display of trees at the Jubilee of Trees. As we walked in the door the first thing we saw was the Lifeflight Helicopter. It was open for kids to see and sit in. There was also on display two pictures of the Lifeflight crews and the pilots that fly the planes. I had a rush of emotion come over me as I looked at those pictures recognizing the nurses that took care of Jase during his flights. I have had Jase's birth on my mind a lot lately as we are coming up on the one year mark. This just reminded me of how grateful I am for modern medicine and Lifeflight and everything else we have been blessed with especially a healthy and happy baby!

Even though this is a Helicopter and Jase rode in a small plane it looks as though Jase remembers it. He doesn't seem too excited to sit in there.

The Dixie Neonatal Intensive Care Unit had a tree with a video of pictures playing showing teeny babies that look just like Jase did when he was there. We walked past it once and then went back a second time. I think we both half expected to see Jase amongst those babies. I can't wait to celebrate his 1st birthday!!

Bulls Eye

Kylie had an unfortunate run-in with the stairs the other night. I can't quite figure out what happened. I think she may have fallen up them or something. She never cried, she just came up to me and told me her forehead hurt. It couldn't be in a better spot. Right in the center just above her eyes. The only bad thing about this situation is we are scheduled to get our picture taken next Saturday. We may have to cancel or hope it heals really fast!!

Weekend Projects

This post should really be called. "I have the best husband in the whole world!" because I have a tendency to get crazy ideas and then talk Jeremy into doing them for me. Which is why his weekend was filled with refinished furniture for me. I was super lucky and found these amazingly ugly tables at DI, but I also could see that will a fresh coat of paint they could really look good, and I only paid $35 for the set.
This is the before
This is the during...These poor tables had layers of thick paint on them. They were first primed, then painted purple then brown. It was a mess and very time consuming. This part was actually done back in September. After that day, I couldn't talk Jeremy into working on them again until last Saturday!

I personally think it was all worth it because I think they turned out great!! Jeremy is very meticulous and really pays attention to detail and it definitely shows. My only problem now it figuring out where they look best in my family room.

I was mean and snuck these babies out for a face lift also. These defiantly weren't as much work and they make a world of difference in my kitchen.

Poor Pickle

I am not sure what it is about PICKLES at out house, but I have a husband, a daughter and now a son who LOVE pickles. Not just any pickles...it has to be Baby Kosher Dill Pickles. Jeremy has loved them from the time he was a little kid. He would sneak them at his grandparents house...or maybe he would ask them for them, I can't rememeber! Jeremy goes so far as to drink the pickle juice when the pickles are gone. It wouldn't surprise me if we had cronic pickle-breath at our house.

This is the first time Jase has really dug in and gone to town on one. The poor thing (the pickle...not Jase) was dead when he was done. There was no life left in it! It kept Jase occupied though and made making dinner a whole lot easier!

Jase's First Haircut

Jase has always had a pretty good amount of hair. He was born with a massive amount of dark dark hair, which was pretty surprising considering he was so early. Who knows what it would have looked like if it would have had 9 more weeks to grow! We gave him his first official haircut. He has had a couple little trims before, but today we pulled out the big guns and gave him a real haircut and I have to be honest, he was the BEST 11 month old I have ever done! He sat so still and wasn't afraid of the clippers at all. He was so nice to just sit on Jeremy's lap and stare out the door the whole time. There is a good chance it won't always be that way, but maybe if we start training him now he won't ever mind getting it cut.

Here he is before...

And here is the after! He looks so stinkin' cute and so blonde. It's weird for me to have such blonde children, but I love it. And he looks like he grew up a whole bunch in that short time it took to cut it!!

Happy Halloween

Halloween was so fun this year. Ever since Kylie was little she would say at very random times, "I want to be a rock star!" So this year I thought it would be really fun if I could put together a "rock star" costume. She loved the idea and we had a good time putting it all together. I lucked out big time and found the perfect skirt for her at D.I. for only $1 and her shirt at Target. Her sneakers and everything else we already had. We went simple on Jase and found him some skeleton pajamas and a beanie.
The festivities started on Friday with Kylie's Preschool Halloween party.

I braided her hair in little braids that morning so she would have cool rock star hair for her party.

Everything came together really cute and she looked awesome!

This is what she came home with. Odviously we were already on candy overload and she hadn't even been trick-or-treating yet.

Saturday we dressed up all over again and headed out for more.

Kylie got the hang of this trick-or-treating thing and as long as there weren't any "mean wolves" around she was having a blast. She would always make sure everyone knew she was a rock star at the door and told everyone, "Happy Halloween" after they gave her candy. You can see in one of those pictures she was on a dead run to the next house. Jase was pretty content to just hang out in his stroller. He loved seeing all the kids and every once in awhile someone would throw him a candy or two.

This is the loot by the end of the night. They were both pretty pleased by their accomplishments and I thought it was really fun being out with them watching them getting excited and being amongst our ward members. It was a super fun night!!
