Spontaneous Vacation

My sister Ashley texts me on Friday and says "I want to go home this weekend. Will you come with my?" I say "If your serious, I'm in" She was serious. As soon as she got out of class she headed down to St. George with only one minor set back. She was pulled over and when trying to explain to the very rude officer her side of the story he interrupts her and sternly said "manure" and walked off. Manure, what?? I assume that is the best word he could come up with that wasn't a swear word. We make it safely the rest of the way and then we have 24 hours to make the most of.

Kylie immediately assumed the role of grandpa's buddy and they spent the day together.

They started off by swimming in the pool

And then Kylie became very concerned with the broken umbrella and tried to fix it with a little screw driver. She was more than excited when it was suggested that they go to Costco to try to find a new one. That girl LOVES Costco.

One of our main reasons for going was to help my sister get ready for Homecoming. We were obviously successful because she looked amazing!

Kylie wanted in on the fun

Even trying on the Nylons

My brother Austin came over and told us about a carnival festival thing going on at a park near by so we decided to go check it out. Kylie loved the train ride and rode it a few times, but she hated the big blow up houses and the huge slides. It was a fun to walk around and see all the booths. We took full advantage of a booth giving out free massages. Considering I have never had one before, it was great.

Kylie was so excited to see Uncle Austin and spend time with him. He was great to get us tickets and spend some time with us.

I think we defiantly made the most of our 24 hours and maybe if we can shorten the drive somehow (of course not by speeding) we will make weekend trips more often.

As Requested

I have had some requests to see what Kylie actually looks like after a day in her very own salon. (I think mostly my mom wanted to make sure her granddaughter was still alive after this) I have to admit the picture of her hair clumped in a pile is probably more dramatic then what she looks like. There is one troubling spot where the hair is only about a 1/2 an inch long and the bang area is a bit out of control, but it defiantly could have been worse and if this is the only time it happens I think we were lucky.

The whole top front section is pretty short and down her right side in front of her ear took the biggest hit. Jeremy came home last night and asked Kylie what she did to her hair and her response was "I don't know, dude"

This is the hair-do of choice we came up with to help hide most of her "bangs." We successfully went to Wal-mart and didn't get an funny looks so we may be able to pull this off.

It's happened...

I bet you can't guess where these lovely blond locks came from??... That's right, Kylie's head. If she would have told me she wanted an asymmetrical haircut with a few little spikes here and there and bangs I might have been able to provide, but instead she decided to take matters into her own hands. She was supposedly upstairs taking a nap when I hear the door open and her run to the top of the stairs and say "Mom, I cut my hair, I cut my hair." I go up there and yep sure enough a pile of hair and the blue scissors from my primary bag are sitting on the floor. I know this was probably bound to happen sometime considering she watches me cut hair all the time, and I think this happens at least once in every young kid's life, but it doesn't make you feel any better when it happens. Good thing it's only hair and it will grow. We'll just have to get creative with the ponytails and clips.

Funny Talk

I just had a funny conversation with Kylie. It went something like this:

Kylie: Know what?
Me: What?
Kylie: I getting a baby brudder.
Me: Yay!! You're so lucky!
(this little conversation we have about a millions times a day) Then it goes on:
Me: When is he coming
Kylie: February; Are you ready?
Me: Ready for what?
Kylie: To go to the store
Me: You want to go to the store?
Kylie: Yep, to get my baby brudder...He's at Costco!!

Where does she come up with this stuff?

Check-up

Today was Kylie's two year check-up (I realize she turned two two months ago, but there was a mess up with her 18 month shots and we had to wait 6 months in between those and the one she had today) She did really well except she absolutely HATES the paper they roll out on the tables. From the time she was a tiny baby she has hated to lay on. I kind of forgot about that and thought that maybe she had out grown it. Oh no, she hasn't! As we are walking into the room the nurse is riping off the paper from the last people and Kylie freaks out and goes running out of the room at full speed. I have to chase her down and do everything I can to convince her to come back into the room. Needless to say she would have nothing to do with the table and had to sit on my lap the whole time. It was kind of funny!! Her measurements are good. She weighs 27 lbs and is 341/4 in. which makes her about 50/50...Just Right!! She had her eye on a candy jar that was out by the exit and kept asking me for one and I kept telling her she could have one as soon as we were done. Right after she got her shot she cried for about one second and then said "I want my candy, NOW!" I couldn't argue with her anymore. The doctor was impressed with how clear and how much she talks. I am thankful she is healthy and developing the way she should.

Kylie Knows Best

The pressure's off. We will now have at least one of each. We're having a BOY!! And we are so excited. Despite the fact that apparently he was curled up in a ball during the whole ultrasound that was the very first thing we saw. Kylie has been telling us for weeks she's getting a "baby brudder" She was right. It will be fun to see the differences between a girl and boy and to have a change. He'll also have a boy cousin that will be a few weeks older that him. (well, lets be honest my sister-in-law always goes a few weeks early and according to Kylie I go late so maybe way more than a few weeks) I am just so happy that everything looks good and he is healthy and growing the way he should. We couldn't be more blessed.

I just showed Kylie these pictures and she said "My baby brudder cute"

Apparently this isn't a normal position for a baby. His foot is crossed up over by his shoulder.

Here are his eyes, his nose and his mouth.

Second Annual Good Time

This weekend was our second annual cousins concert. It was so fun! Every year (well, for the past two) some of my girl cousins, my sister and I get together for the Ryan Shupe and the Rubberband concert. Last year at the Utah Summer Games in Cedar City they came to play at the opening ceremonies. Neither my cousin Heather or I were really familiar with their songs, but we had such a good time dance up by the stage with what looked like junior high kids that when we heard they were coming to concert in Salt Lake we had to go. And then when we heard they were coming back again this year we were first in line for tickets. They do put on a really fun concert, but more that anything it's just a good excuse to get together! We have our calendars marked for next year.

My sister Ashley and me

My sisters' roommate Nikki, my cousins Jessi and Millie, me, my cousin Heather, and my sister Ashley in the front.

Summer Goes On...

I believe the Splash Park has become our second home this summer. Kylie can't seem to get enough of it, and we'll take any excuse to go. Yesterday Shandie, Lincoln and Austin come down and we took full advantage of the empty splash park now that school has started again.

Better luck next time with the great group shot!!

A Little R&R

We spent Labor Day weekend in Arizona at my family's cabin. It was so nice down there. The weather was perfectly rainy most of the time and it was fun just laying around and relaxing.

Kylie had time to master my mom's iPhone which of course she did. She knew right were to get her games and how to switch to the next thing.

We had a little unfortunate incident with a booster seat and she ended up with a fat lip. It was sad when it happened, but I thought the fat lip was kinda cute!

We attempted a fire to roast marshmallows and play chubby bunny, but it got rained out before we had a chance.
Swinging on the rope swing with Uncle Adam

She became grandpa's little buddy. She wanted to do whatever he did and be where ever he was.

Fixing a leak

We don't have a helmet that fits Kylie so she rode in the Jeep

Like I said, it rained so we had a blast with the 4-wheelers and my brother's Jeep

Jeremy attempting the mud puddle or should I say small river?

We had a great time getting his Jeep this dirty!

We shot at some rusty metal things, which I personally thought the guns were kind of creepy

We had an issue on the way out of the canyon we were shooting in. My brother's Jeep feel into a divot in the trail and just about rolled.

It was exciting to watch him and Jeremy try to get it out.

This is how we all keep from going insane during those 7 hour rides. It was such a fun weekend and nice to get away and relax.
