The Beginning of the End

That sounds like I am dying. Nope, not dying, just ending one chapter of our lives and starting another! This week we kind of started getting ready for the trek south. Not quite as south as I would like, but we are slowly making our way down there! We decided it was probably time to pack some boxes. Jeremy hated every minute it of it. I think I heard "I hate packng" a hundred times yesterday as we were going through things and realizing everything that has to get done.
I was released from the calling today, which I loved. That was another kick letting me know this is really happening. We have an AWESOME ward. I have loved them. I don't think there are too many wards like ours. We were full of young new families, but also had a mixture of a few older ones. I love the Relief Society Presidency that I worked with and I will really miss them. I am glad I only live 45 minutes away and they can call me when they come down and go shopping. I am just glad I belong to such an amazing organization as Relief Society. It is so great to know that even though I am going to a new place I will have this club or group of people that is familiar where I can make friends and get to know people. What a comfort. Kylie also had GREAT nursery leaders. We really liked them. Sometimes those are hard to come by, but she had fun lessons for them and she always came away telling us something that went on in Nursery that day.
Well, if everything goes as planned right now we will be residents of St. George by Thursday. We see what the week brings.

A Series of Funny Events

Kylie has been on a roll lately. She has said and done some pretty funny things that I don't want to forget. Here they are in no particular order...

Instead of saying hi these days she says "good morning" Anytime I saw her yesterday she would come up to me and say "Good morning, Mommy." She has been very polite and says "you're welcome" anytime we tell her thank you for doing something. Her new favorite word is "cause." I'll ask her why she wants me to take her all the way down stairs when we just got back up and she will say "cause". Where does she learn this stuff?

We took Kylie through a car wash yesterday and I thought she was going to have a come apart. She absolutely hated it. We kept trying to tell her the car was getting a bath, but that didn't help. She made me turn on the overhead light in the car, may I remind you this is in the middle of day and it is completely light in the car, but for some reason that light calmed her down and gave her a little bit of security. She couldn't wait to get out of there and of course Jeremy and I laughed the whole time.

On Friday Kylie was in her room with me while I was hanging her clothes up and she said "I farted" (thanks Jeremy) and she stood there for a few seconds and then she says with the most disgusted look on her face, "It stinks" and she ran away from where she was standing. It was so funny. I laughed for awhile about that.

Kylie likes to check and make sure I don't have anything on my face. If she notices I have a mascara flake or some other kind of goober she promptly takes her sharp little finger nail and digs at it until it goes away. Well, this morning Kylie was lying in our bed with me and she looked up at my eyebrows and said "Aw-oh" licked her finger and very seriously combed my apparently very wild hairs back into place. Thanks Kylie for keeping an eye on me.

Last night I was getting ready for bed and I went in the bathroom and started brushing my teeth. I came out to my bedroom where Kylie was doing something. She saw what I was doing came over to me and with her head cocked to the side asked "Daddy's toothbrush??" I looked down and sure enough I was using Jeremy's toothbrush. I hadn't realized I picked up the wrong one. How in the world does she know who's toothbrush is who's?

We say family prayers in Kylie's room at night before she goes to bed and last night she said it was her turn to say the prayer. She says this often and then won't say anything when we try to help her, but tonight she thought she would try it. So I started out by saying "Dear Heavenly Father" and said "Daddy" then I said a couple other things that she mumbled back to us. I then said "please bless us to sleep well tonight." and Kylie mumbled something about her "new bed" and pointed to her bed. Then I said "Bless Kylie not to wet her bed tonight" and she said "bless my panties." And of course we ended with a very enthusiastic "Amen." It was so cute and she was so proud. I am sure Heavenly Father knew exactly what she meant.

Kylie certainly never ceases to amaze me. I can't believe some of the funny things she says or the reactions I get from her. She definitely makes me happy!!

What's a good post without a picture? Here is Kylie in the bath this morning while dad was washing her hair.

House Update: The Deckers (the people buying our house) called this week and said their loan is going fast then they expected and so they are hoping we could close by the end of the month. We have a lease in St. George starting June 1, so that will probably be good timing. I am SO glad everything is going well with it. We started packing things up yesterday, figured it was about time since it may only be two weeks away. We took down the curtains in our kitchen and now it echos. I was just excited to know we have a house big enough to echo.

Kylie Tag

Kylie got tagged by Boston, and although she LOVES to type on the computer none of it would have made sense, so she asked me to do it for her.

11 FUN FACTS about KYLIE

1.Kylie was born 6 days late on July 14, 2006

2.She got her ears pierced when she was 18 months old and she still won't let us come anywhere near them and she has just barely started to acknowledge them

3.It is only comfortable to sit on the bed if the pillows are piled half way up the wall. She gets really ticked if they keep falling down. She obviously doesn't realize how hard it is to keep them up there.

4.Kylie loves to give pedicures and get her own fingernails clipped. She asks for it often.

5. Kylie gets most of her good looks from her dad including beautiful brown eyes and blondish hair (when he was a kid) which is so weird for me because I grew up in a family that had light eyes and red hair.

6.Kylie was 19 months old when she was potty trained and it only took a couple days.

7. Kylie insists on sitting in the laundry basket when we carry it downstairs. She gets really upset if she finds out we have snuck down there and she didn't get a ride.

8. Kylie obviously loves any kind of eye wear.

9. She loves animals and all their sounds. She usually calls them by her sounds. This is her "Nay" She rides him everyday!

10. Kylie has a very hard time smiling and keeping her eyes open for pictures, but she always seems to manage a smile and a laugh AFTER the picture has been taken. We usually take about 10 pictures before we have one we are satisfied with.

11. Kylie got this shirt for her grandma's triathlon and if she gets to pick what to wear she goes straight for that shirt.

Kylie now tags Cameron & Lucas, Benson & Sadie, Aynsli & Emalie, and Lincoln & Austin and of course anyone else who would like to take another chance to show off their kids.

Happy Mother's Day!

Today was a fun day. This is my second mother's day, but last year Kylie really didn't know what was going on not that she had a clue this year either, but she was really excited to give me the picture she made in nursery.

She came running into Relief Society really excited and handed me this with a big smile on her face. It's so cute. I don't know if you can tell by the picture, but her face is in the center of the flower. I am thankful for my own mother and the example she set for me. If I can be at least a little of what she is, I think I will be sittin' pretty in the mom catergory. I am also thankful for my mother-in-law and the great son she raised. She is also a great example and I look up to her. And thank you Jeremy for making today a special day. He imformed me a couple days ago that he thought Mother's Day was also Wife Appreciation Day and I told him he was exactly right!

When do I get one of these?

Cha-Ching

Kylie has a new little phrase she likes to say. It goes a little something like this..."I WANT MONEY!" For some reason (and I am not taking ANY responsibility for this) Kylie is infatuated with money. Jeremy caught her one day digging around in my purse and when he asked her what she was doing she said, "I want money." She searches for it all around the house and constantly asks me for it. Jeremy decided that she would probably really enjoy a piggy bank so he took her out to get one. He said when he showed the little piggy bank to her she immediately pointed to the coin slot and said "money, money." How would she know that a little slot on a ceramic pig's back would be for money? Jeremy is afraid of what she will be like when she's 16. He says as long as she will always be satisfied with pennies it may be alright. She proabably realizes that could be all she gets so she better start asking now.
I really don't want anyone to think we have tons of money laying around and she is constantly exposed to it because that couldn't be farther from the truth. I think it's probably just ANOTHER one of those things she has picked up on and this one she REALLY likes!

Her new best friend!

Jeremy has a coin jar that he sometimes lets Kylie use to help fill up her piggy.

She's looking back for more, this is the funnest thing she has done in a long time!

A Friendly Hello

Since Jeremy has such a long commute everyday and gas is so expensive he has been taking the car and leaving the truck for me to drive. It's just a little truck without a backseat so Kylie gets to sit up front with me. It's actually kind of fun to have her right next to me as we drive.
Well, yesterday as we were driving Kylie noticed a lady driving right beside us, she was in a truck also so it made her level with Kylie. Kylie looked over at her and started saying "Hi mommy, hi mommy, hi mommy," (I think she thinks anyone around my age must be called mommy too) and she was getting progressively louder trying to get this lady's attention. She REALLY wanted to say hi. After a few unsuccessful attempts she looks over at me with the most disappointed look on her face. She could not believe that this lady wouldn't say hi back.
Now, obviously this wasn't the lady's fault because she had no clue Kylie was trying to say hi, but at that moment I had this overwhelming feeling of disappointment also. Seeing the look on Kylie's face made me want to do whatever it took to get that lady to pay attention to her. If I would have thought that honking the horn, or ramming into the side of her truck would have helped I probably would have done it, but by this time the lady was ahead of us and we needed to turn. Kylie soon forgot about the whole thing and went back to babbling about something else and she was fine, but for some reason I have been thinking about this ever since it happened just the sad little look on her face and the overwhelming feeling of compassion I had for her. I have a feeling that was just a small glimpse of a lifetime of emotions I will face as a mom with my kids.
