No More Playing Around

Today is the first day of Jeremy's new job. He's actually up in Salt Lake doing some training. The company is based out of Salt Lake and they have just recently expanded down to St. George hence the reason Jeremy got the job down there. He's working for a company called Beacon Metals. They are subcontractors that specialize in metal door and window frames for commercial buildings. Metal?? you ask. Isn't he into wood? Yes his specialty is in wood working be he won't be a laborer. He is a Project Manager for the company and as far as I know all that means is he get to take clients to lunch! I am sure there is much much more to it then that, but I am not really sure yet. He was actually hired at a really great time because right now its just him and the guy who hired him in St. George so as the company expands more and more he will be in better and better positions.
He spent the day today taking a drug test, filling out a bunch of paper work and reading through the company handbook. He says tomorrow they are going to teach him how to weld just in case its needed.
I thinks he's really excited about this job. The owners of the company are great. They are good members of the church which as you can imagine can be really rare in the construction field and once he's settled in St. George, he wont have travel which is also sometimes rare. This wasn't my idea of the ideal job at first, but as I learn more and see how excited Jeremy is about it and that he has to wear decent clothes and comb his hair everyday, I think its really an answer to prayers and I can't wait to watch Jeremy grow and enjoy what he's doing.
This isn't his first day of work picture although I wanted to take one. He thought that would be embarrassing, but I took this just before he had to shave his goatee. (which I really like!!) He has to be clean shaven with not visible tattoos or piercings. "He's the face of Beacon Metal"

"TV! TV!"

We have a TV that has some serious issues. Something didn't work in the back and so we had it hooked up to some kind of receiver that worked the volume and we had to watch it through the VCR requiring us to find two remotes when ever we watched the TV. What a hassle!! Not to mention my family always made fun of us when they tried to work it. (they really have no room to talk, you should see their remote pile) So I bet you can image how ecstatic we were when Jeremy's parents offered us their TV they just replaced.
We decided last night to go get it. Jeremy loaded up our old TV in the back seat next to Kylie so we could take it to the DI. We get to the DI and Jeremy gets out to unload it, he gives it to the guy there and Kylie starts throwing a fit. She's crying and yelling "TV! TV!" It took a good few minutes to convince her that we were going over the grandma and grandpa's to get a new one.
We get the TV and get it home and Jeremy goes to put it in our entertainment center and it doesn't fit by about 1/4 of an inch. What do we do now? Its so close to fitting. We already got rid of our old one, Kylie is counting on this new one. Jeremy does what he does best and what he had to do to get the entertainment center out of his room when we got married; he starts tearing it apart. (By the way this is an entertainment center he made in high school.) I think one of his next projects will be making a new one. One that he says will fit a big flat screen.

He has to take everything out of it (good thing all our movies and Cd's are packed up) and tip it over and start chiseling out a layer of particle board.

I think he probably chiseled away about a 1/2 inch only chiseling all the way through the top in one little spot.

Needless to say we have a really thin piece of wood right above our TV and we have to be really careful what we put up there.

It fits! It fits! When he was all done I accidentally said "Good Job, Kylie!" I guess when you say that about 50 times a day it becomes habit.

Happy Easter

As I mentioned before Kylie has a chance to spend the weekend with my family and she had a great time. They went swimming, played with sidewalk chalk, blew bubbles and went to a ward easter egg hunt at the park. I think Jeremy and I may have a run for our money, Kylie cried when my mom left this morning to excercise, my dad has mastered the bedtime routine, my sisters are 10 times funner than I will ever be and this house has way more cool things with buttons on it. I am not sure how she will survive at home with just me all day long in a house that is half boxed up.

She would shake each egg to make sure there was something in it before she would put it in her basket.

The Big 5

Today is March 22, 2008...what were we doing 5 years ago today?? Getting Married!! It's weird to think we have been married that long. I feel like we should still be newlyweds. Every once in a while I still have to think about my "new" last name.

To celebrate this momentous occasion we decided to go up to my family's cabin in Show Low, Arizona for the weekend. We spent a relaxing couple of days hung out, riding four wheelers and going to dinner. My family was nice enough to take Kylie while we went. Here are a few pictures from our four wheeler ride.

Before the ride

Me...

Jeremy!

I am so grateful to be married to the most amazing person in the whole world. I was always told growing up that the most important decision you make is who you marry and I am sure I got this right!

Here are a few of our dating and wedding pictures.

Kylie's Cool Cousins

Kylie is cousin #8 on the Felix side and she is lucky enough to live close to all of them. She gets a chance to hang out with them quite often. Here are a few pictures of some of the times lately.

A Difference of 15 Degrees

Did I happen to mention that our lives are very unpredictable?!? This theory proves to be true once again. In Jeremy's quest to find a new job after graduating he put in application all over the place. Mostly focusing on Utah and Arizona, but a few in Texas, Colorado and Wyoming. I course, was sure I wouldn't be going to most of those places, but still he applies where ever he found a job that sounded intriguing. To find a job in the construction industry is pretty rough right now especially since building is down and there have been quite a few companies lay people off causing the field to be over saturated with qualified people. So, after many resume submissions and a few phone interviews (from Texas) that didn't seem too promising he finally got a call from a company looking to expand down to St. George asking him to interview.

Maybe I should let you know what our plans were at this point. We had our house under contract thinking it would actually sale, and Jeremy said he would try out Arizona. He didn't have a job there yet, but we thought maybe it would help to actually be there and he could network a little bit and get to know people. We would stay with my parents for a little while and then if things worked out we were maybe going to live in the Aunt and Uncle's house when they leave on their missions this summer. Perfect!! Perfect plan, it was going to be great. I was so excited. Finally a chance to live in AZ. Something I have been hoping for for a looong time. It was so close I could taste it.

Anyways, so Jeremy gets a chance to interview in St. George, and I am a little bit sick about it. I knew it was good because it was a job interview and who knows maybe it would be great for him, but secretly I was hoping it really wouldn't work out and our plan could continue forward. The very next day after the interview the guy calls him and asks if he wouldn't mind going up to Salt Lake to interview with the people up there. Now I am really getting worried. This may really happen. I can feel Arizona slipping through my fingers. I kept asking myself "Why is this happening now?" We had already made up our minds. Jeremy knew I was dying. He knew I was having a hard time. He just about cancelled the interview in SLC, but we both knew he shouldn't do that.

He went up to the interview and did great. (They may make him shave his goatee…sad!) He really likes the company and thinks he will really enjoy the work he would do. Again I was secretly hoping he was going to be late for the meeting or something bad was going to happen, but of course it didn't.

Well, another week has gone by and on Friday he was offered the job. During that week I have gone through a million emotions. I started out kicking and screaming not wanting anything to do with it; to finally realizing that it could be a really great thing for us. St. George is a nice place that will still keep us close to family, but also give us the chance to be our own little family.

So, I guess to sum up this long story Jeremy starts his new job on March 31. In the mean time hopefully we can get our house sold and find a new place to live down there. It won't quite be like Arizona. I think there is a difference of 15 degrees in the weather, but as my dad put it maybe this will make Jeremy a little more accustom to the heat and eventually we can work our way down there.

Here's Life in the Making

Well, I guess our town home will be home sweet town home for a little longer then we planned. For some reason that hasn't been disclosed to us Heavenly Father needs us here for a while longer. We received the dreaded letter yesterday that you really pray never comes, telling us that the buyers of our home were breaking the contract and no long could buy our house. How frustrating!!!! Jeremy and I have ran through every emotion from disappointment to mad to just being physical sick about it. I keep asking myself why is this happening? I have full faith and confidence that the Lord is fully in control and he knows what's going on. I just wish we could know what was going on also.
We're now back to square one; putting the house in the paper, making sure its clean enough all the time, getting my decorations back out, putting the house back together (may I remind you we were a week and a half away from the whole deal), waiting and wondering.
To look on the bright side we have pretty flexible plans. My grandma was kind enough to let us stay in her condo while she is gone and we don't have a pressing job to get to. We are pretty ok just hanging out til next time.
As my mom reminded me yesterday there is an equally and opposite reaction to everything, so just as much good will come from just as much bad. We just need to press forward, chalk it up to experence and remember we have something pretty amazing waiting for us!!

One's just as cute as the other...

My mom keeps giving me a hard time about putting up a picture of her granddaughter with a snotty nose. So I thought I would put my most favorite picture of all times of her up to help make up for it. (I have actually been looking for a good excuse to post it for a long time.)
I LOVE this picture. I have it set as my desktop background. It may be one that only a mother or maybe a grandmother or two could love, but I think it is sooo cute of her. I love her messy hair, sitting at the table so happy to be eating her peaches. I love the look on her face. You can see her little dimple so perfectly. The best part about this picture is that it's lunch time!! Yep, that's how some days go. We're still in our pajamas at lunch time.

Tissue Please

This runny nose is almost gone! If its one thing I have a really hard time with its other little kids snot. I hate to wipe it, but much less I hate to look at it, so wiping is the only other alternative. Thank goodness its different with your own kid and it doesn't bother me to wipe Kylie's because she has had this stinkin runny nose for I swear, the last month and a half. Poor thing, at one point I had wiped it so much it was chapped and bleeding just under her noes. I was probably saying "Come here lets wipe your nose" at least 20 times a day. It got the point where she would run into me and point to her noes and say "Nose, nose" so I could wipe it for her. I guess really I shouldn't complain because we have been really lucky this year not to get sick. If this is the worst it gets I will take it. I'm just glad its warming up outside because I don't think her little nose can take anymore of this.

Face Lift

My blog got a face lift! I am SO excited about it. I kind of have a feeling that blogging is a lot like scrapbooking and you feel like you have to keep up with the latest trends. As much as I try I am not a real great scrapbooker and have zero original ideas. If blogging gets too much more intense I am not sure I will be able to keep up. But thanks to SOMEONE ELSE (my new friend Kallie) I am not so self-conscious about my blog.
